Insights into Statins for Primary Prevention

This paper uses modelling to provide insights into statins for primary prevention to inform guidelines and policies.

Estimated millions of primary risk-based candidates by eligibility for statin therapy under the 2013 ACC/AHA Cholesterol treatment guideline risk-based approach (2013), a trialsbased approach (trials), and a benefit-based approach (i.e. estimated absolute risk reduction from treatment > 2.5%). Approximately 71.8 million American are represented by 2,134 NHANES 2005-2010 subjects.
