Valtorta et al present a meta-analysis of longitudinal observational studies to assess the relationship between social isolation and loneliness and risk of coronary heart disease and stroke. The authors found social isolation and loneliness were risk factors for coronary heart disease and stroke. The authors performed sensitivity analyses and made an assessment of publication bias.
